William Speight served as security. in March 1769. He was summoned to answer a complaint of Martha Hartley, who alleged that John Whitford "ill treats his apprentice John Hartley and abuses his trust as guardian fo the said John Hartley." in March 1775. He was living in 1779 at Dobbs County, North Carolina.1 He died on 23 February 1811 at age 66.
