     Martin Whitford married Mary Clark, daughter of Lardner Clark and Elizabeth (?). Martin Whitford was born on 22 June 1775. He was accused with Owen Griffin and Willis Whitford and John Whitford that they "Did Maliciously & Wilfully Drownd & Murder a Negro Man of [William Gaskins] property by the Name of Peter on Sunday the 8th day July at the Landing Calld John Whitfords, on Little Swift Creek contrary to the Laws & Dignity of this Country." The document names Willis as the son of Thomas. on 9 July 1792 at Craven County, North Carolina.¹ He was personally appeared before John Frink Smith and Francis Lowthorp, Justices of the Peace, and "acknowledged themselves indebted to the State in the Sum of two Hundred Pounds" to appear at the New Bern District Superior Court in September 1792 to stand trial for the murder of Peter, slave of William Gaskins. on 10 July 1792 at Craven County, North Carolina.¹ He died on 16 December 1814 at age 39.

     Eula Maude Ballenger was born on 2 January 1905. She married Harvey Arthur, son of Ephraim Harvey Arthur and Sarah Catherine Smith, on 28 June 1932. Eula Maude Ballenger died on 20 November 1986 at New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina, at age 81.

     Laurie Lee Kite was born on 5 August 1939. He married Cheryl Arthur, daughter of Harvey Arthur and Eula Maude Ballenger, on 5 August 1960. Laurie Lee Kite died on 14 June 1991 at age 51.

     Noah Edward Gaskins was born on 1 November 1870. He married Eudora Annette Smith, daughter of Redding W. Smith and Sarah Catherine Willis. Noah Edward Gaskins died on 4 April 1950 at age 79.

     Noah Victor Gaskins was born on 29 April 1906. He married Elizabeth Floyd on 26 December 1936. Noah Victor Gaskins died on 13 September 1955 at age 49.

     Pherabee Ree Gaskins was born on 18 May 1901 at Vanceboro, Craven County, North Carolina. Her married name was Bland. She married Raleigh Hudnell Bland. Pherabee Ree Gaskins died on 28 January 1988 at age 86.

     Mary Whitford was born on 5 August 1777.

     Betty Vic Gaskins was born on 17 April 1940. Her married name was Stewart. She married Harold Stewart. Her married name was Travis. Betty Vic Gaskins married Hans Edward Travis. Betty Vic Gaskins died on 22 May 2005 at age 65.

     Raleigh Hudnell Bland was born on 12 January 1902. He married Pherabee Ree Gaskins, daughter of Noah Edward Gaskins and Eudora Annette Smith. Raleigh Hudnell Bland died on 28 August 1962 at age 60.

     Mary "Polly" James Clark Died, at the residence of her son, Col. J.D. Whitford, Mrs. Mary Whitford, at the mature age of 83 years, 6 months, and 17 days. (New Bern Weekly Journal, 3 July 1884.) She was born in 1800. She married Hardy Whitford, son of David Whitford and Nancy Stilley, on 24 December 1820 at Craven County, North Carolina. Mary "Polly" James Clark died in 1884.
